Primary Use Case: Employee Workplace Charging at a Corporate Headquarters
The Challenge
When Constellation Brands, a leading international producer and marketer of beer, wine, and spirits, relocated its headquarters to downtown Rochester, the company sought to future-proof the new space with electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The new 170,000-square-foot headquarters, designed to support nearly 400 employees, required an EV charging solution that:
- Met a defined project budget
- Could be approved across leadership and committee stakeholders
- Supported a growing number of EV-driving employees
- Aligned with Constellation Brands’ sustainability and clean-energy goals
Selecting the right chargers and navigating incentives while coordinating with multiple project partners presented a complex planning challenge.
The EVCS Approach
EV Charge Solutions partnered closely with Constellation Brands to design a practical, scalable charging solution that balanced performance, cost, and long-term value.
Key elements of the approach included:
- Incentive Guidance: Product Specialists assisted in identifying and evaluating available incentive programs to help offset project costs.
- Charger Selection:
- 5 PowerCharge Pro-Lightening Series 40 AMP dual pedestal chargers to support multiple vehicles simultaneously
- 1 PowerCharge 80 AMP wall-mounted charger to provide higher-capacity charging where needed
- Installation Coordination: EV Charge Solutions worked alongside DGA Builders and Turner Electric, maintaining clear communication with project managers to ensure smooth planning and execution.
The selected PowerCharge lineup provided reliable Level 2 charging, flexible installation options, and compatibility with a wide range of employee vehicles.
The Results
The EV charging installation successfully supported the launch of Constellation Brands’ new headquarters, which officially opened on June 24, 2024.
Key outcomes included:
- Expanded access to workplace charging for employees
- Improved convenience for daily commuting and extended workdays
- Scalable infrastructure ready to support increased EV adoption
- Alignment with company sustainability and clean-energy initiatives
Beyond operational benefits, the chargers contribute to the broader revitalization of downtown Rochester by supporting cleaner transportation options in the community.
As Rob Sands, Executive Chair of Constellation Brands’ Board of Directors, noted, the new headquarters is designed to “foster collaboration within the company and the community while contributing to Rochester’s revitalization efforts.” The PowerCharge EV chargers play a meaningful role in advancing that vision.
